Pyrophyte

Arcade Campfa, Cardiff 2019

A 'pyrophyte' is a type of plant that has evolved to tolerate and even encourage wildfires with their volatile oils in order to benefit them or complete their cycle of reproduction - for which fire and high temperatures are essential.

This exhibition aims to survey the spectrum of emerging artists from Cardiff whose practices directly tap into or challenge ceramics, as a material or subject.

Featuring the work of Elin Hughes, Hannah Walters, Jaejun Lee, Marek Liska, Morgan Dowdall, Toni De Jesus, Sam Lucas, Yixia Lin and Youngeun Shin.
